What is an AI SDR, and when does it work?

    Short answer

An AI SDR is software that does parts of a sales development rep's job: building lists, writing outreach, sending it and handling replies. It works when it runs inside clear limits on proven messages and clean data, with a person deciding what it may start on its own; it fails when it is used to send more of an untested message to an unverified list.

    In short

    • "AI SDR" covers very different products, from a writing assistant to a system that starts campaigns on its own.
    • The useful questions are what it may do without a person, within what budget, and what stops it.
    • It amplifies what already works; it does not find product-market fit for you.
    • Data quality and deliverability limits apply to an AI SDR exactly as to a person.

What to ask before switching one on

    • Which steps can it start without a person: building a list, writing copy, sending, replying?
    • What budget can it spend, and is it capped?
    • What stops it: bounce rate, negative replies, a broken sending account?
    • Does it reuse messages that worked, or invent new ones on its own?
    • Can you see what it did each week, and undo it?

How the TechSales AI SDR is limited

It has three modes: Off, Prepare (it builds the list and campaign and you press Start) and Run on its own (it starts campaigns itself, only with a persona and copy that already worked). It spends within a weekly credit cap, checks capacity every six hours, and an hourly brake pauses its campaigns above 5% bounces or when more than 60% of replies are negative. See AI SDR.

The AI SDR settings: Off, Prepare or Run on its own, a 50 percent capacity target, a 2,500 weekly credit cap and a persona per channel

    Frequently asked questions

Will an AI SDR replace my SDRs?
It can take over the repetitive parts: refilling lists, drafting, routine replies. Judgement on new markets, objections and pricing still needs a person, and the TechSales AI SDR leaves those to one.
Is an AI SDR the same as an AI writing tool?
No. A writing tool drafts text; an AI SDR also builds lists, decides timing and may send. That is why its limits matter more.
    What does it cost?
Products differ widely. In TechSales, running on its own is part of the AI SDR plan and list building uses capped credits. See Pricing.
